What is Cibao?
Every Cibao cigar is a tribute to the valley which is its namesake. Coveted as one of the most fertile tobacco growing regions in the world, Jochy Blanco proudly embraced the Cibao Valley when he registered his first cigar brand over three decades ago.

A Master Artisan
Jochy Blanco is considered one of the pioneers of cigar making. He is renowned as a master blender, with many of his creations placing on the coveted Cigar Aficionado annual top 25 cigar list.
Moreover, Jochy is a meticulous craftsman: he oversees agricultural operations, the aging and curing processes in addition to cigar blending and rolling. As a member of the fourth generation of the tobacco-growing Blanco family, he took over the business in the late 70's. In 1985 he introduced Cibao Cigars, the first brand he was proud to register in his name.

Our Home
Tabacalera Palma

Established as the core of all operations, Tabacalera Palma’s factory is the home of an expanding family that grows stronger every day and progresses through hard work. Rollers, packaging personnel, supervisors, and countless other individuals compose the team that completes the extensive puzzle of cigar making in Tabacalera Palma, and each one of these members is equally responsible for executing their task.
After hundreds of hands have endeavored in the craft, every single cigar is subjected to a very stringent quality control process which ensures our focus: consistency.
Consistency is essential, and aging a cigar until its prime is a fundamental aspect of securing the totality of its worthiness.

At Tabacalera Palma, Jochy believes the high quality he constantly strives for can only be attained through vertical integration. Maintaining precise control from seed development and soil preparation months before the plant even dreams of flourishing, all the way through final packaging is essential.
Tabacalera Palma owns and operates four farms around Santiago ranging in age from 20 to 60 years. They are known as Flor de Palma, El Potrero, Los Cocos and Gurabo. Four full-time agronomists tend to each of these farms to ensure the utmost quality from seed to harvest.

CIBAO ORIGINS
Our History
Cibao Cigars are the fruits borne from four generations of tobacco growing and cigar making by the Blanco family.

The Valley.
The Cibao valley is widely recognized as one of the main agricultural heartlands of the Dominican Republic. Located in the northern region of the country, it is famous for its tobacco crops and the land is considered to be one of the most fertile in the world.
Tabacalera Palma owns and operates four different farms in the valley, located in the nortwestern region of the Dominican Republic. In the midst of 1995, Jochy transferred the original Palma factory to a free trade zone he founded by the name of ‘La Palma’. These facilities reside in the northern part of the country in Tamboril, located in the outskirts of Santiago, the second highest populated city of the Dominican Republic.
Precise control begins at seed development to soil preparation months before the plant even dreams of flourishing, and continues through final packaging.
